Seonna Hong :: Princess
January 18 - February 15, 2003

sixspace is proud to present the first solo exhibition by Los Angeles based artist Seonna Hong. Princess will consist of fifteen original paintings with added details such as ribbon, jewels, origami and glitter based on every little girl's dream of being a princess. In conjunction with this exhibition, there will be a limited edition, signed four-piece button set available.

In Princess, Hong take viewers on a fantastic journey that visits princesses from all over the world, such as princesses from India, Africa, and Japan. Certain paintings however, such as the Las Vegas princess, make it known that princesses aren't just for fairy tales and can exist in everyday culture. Other works are completely fantasy, which might make them even more fun, such as a princess of darkness and a princess of the sea (mermaid).

Hong, an emerging artist in the fine art and animation communities, received her Bachelor of Arts from California State University in Long Beach. Since then she has been included in group exhibitions in San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and had a sold out group show in Portland earlier in 2002. She has done background animation for Gary Baseman's Emmy Award Winning television show Teacher's Pet and recently did background scenes for Power Puff Girls: the Movie for Cartoon Network. Her artwork will also be featured on the cover of the Portland Mercury, a weekly paper based out of Portland, OR. A well-rounded artist, whether painting in oil or acrylic, figurative or illustration, Hong is quickly becoming one of the most revered artists in her field.
