Sean Higgins' work depicts purposely-vague environments where location and situation is left to interpretation. The beautifully sanded Plexiglas construct hazy landscapes and seascapes while also separating the viewer from the image in the attempt to have the viewer look through the image rather than simply looking at it. With his work having a hazy memory and dream-like quality, Higgins' utilizes the traditional romantic depiction of the"landscape" as a jumping off point to another idea and place. Sean Higgins received his MFA in 1998 from the University of Pennsylvania and his BFA from Moravian College, PA in 1996. His work was most recently seen in the acclaimed Rogue Wave 05 at L.A. Louver this past summer that included a review by David Pagel in the Los Angeles Times and an accompanying catalog. Higgins has also held exhibitions in Los Angeles, Pennsylvania, and New York. |
