Donovan Crosby (born 1975) received her BFA from the California Insitute of the Arts in 1997. Her paintings explore dark and mysterious topics usually involving fairy tales, voodoo folklore, and Victorian-era traditions. Her unique application for acrylic paint on textured surfaces creates haunting, beautiful, and whimsical imagery that reflects a somber, personal tone. Crosby's work evokes feelings of contemplative solitude that also includes a solid sense of humor. By combining these appealing and often disturbing elements, she contstructs her own fantasy environment where viewers are invited to visit.

Crosby has held exhibitions in New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Los Angeles. She makes her much-anticipated solo exhibition debut with Kindertotenlieder this July at sixspace (Culver City). Additionally, she has been featured in publications such as Juxtapoz Magazine and the Los Angeles Times.
